A biography of Betty Francesca Saragih
Betty Francesca Saragih, a retired Information Technology worker, is passionate about
traveling, backpacking and photography (both portrait & street photography), has joined
Institute Wesley Jakarta as English lecturer since January 2018.
Born in Yogyakarta, April 28 th , 1971, Ms. Betty graduated with a Bachelor of Computer
Science from the Faculty of Math and Science, Immanuel Christian University Yogyakarta,
Indonesia, in the year 1994 with GPA 3.77 of 4.00. She was a Lecturer Assistant for both
“Pascal” and “Data Structure” subjects during the finishing year of her study (1994) in
Immanuel Christian University Yogyakarta.
Started her career in October 1997 as a Personal Computer Programmer of Information
Technology Division, Research & Development Group of LippoBank Tbk., Karawaci,
Tangerang. Her fonds of computer technology brought her to IT Division of Indofood Sukses
Makmur Tbk., Jakarta (May 1997 to February 2008) where she gained her programming
skills in various platforms and technology. She used to be a remote personal assistance for
www.icecoldstocks.com, USA (2004-2007) and remote IT freelancer www.mtcinc.com, USA
(2005). She served Venture Corporation, Ltd., Singapore (February 2008 to December 2016)
as System Analyst in IT Department where she earned some professional certifications in IT.
Skilled in business process assessment, cross-functional collaboration, project execution and
monitoring, project adoption, and deployment to deliver the projects on time and on
budget.
It was during her tenure in Singapore that she started exploring the world as a traveler.
Having a passion for traveling the world, she has quit her nine-to-five job in December 2016,
to travel. As per today, Ms. Betty has covered the 5 continents (Asia, Africa, North America,
South America, and Oceania) as backpacker / solo traveler. One of her achievements was
her solo travel in Latin America (Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador) for
5 months in 2017. Ms. Betty is also keen on reducing costs, efficiencies improvement, and
green environments.
